Harley Hahn's
Internet Sampler

Imagine that you've just recently learned to read, and you are
about to visit a large library for the first time in your life.
As you walk in, you are overwhelmed: there are more books than
you have ever seen, organized into so many categories that the
whole thing becomes a blur.
You think to yourself, in this vast building there must be
thousands of things that would interest me. But how do I
find them?
You flag down a passing librarian. "Excuse me," you ask, "but
where can I find something interesting?"
"Well, what sort of things are you interested in?" she says.
You tell her something or other and she points you in a certain
direction. You root around in that area and, eventually, you do
find an interesting book.
You go to the library often, but each time you visit you find
yourself going to the same sections over and over. After a few
weeks, you realize what you really want is something new and
exciting. However, whenever you ask the librarian for something
interesting, all she says is, "Well, what are you interested in?"
On the Internet, we have the same problem to a much larger
degree: If you know what you like, it is possible to find more
of the same, but how do you find new things that you don't even
know exist?
This is why I created this theme area, Harley Hahn's Internet
Sampler. I am willing to bet that if I can get you to explore
the Internet with me, you will find more ways to have fun (and to
learn) than you would think possible.
To get you started, I have collected more than 100 different
Internet resources, all of them useful and interesting in their
own way. So, whenever you get a moment and you want to
investigate the Net, visit this theme area and try something new.
The Internet is the largest gathering of people and information
in the history of mankind.
Hint: There is more to the Internet than the Web. If you
have been spending all your time clicking from one Web site to
another, you are missing out on more than you can even imagine.
