There are a number of reasons why you might choose to abstain from sex: to avoid pregnancy out of wedlock, to avoid sexually transmitted diseases, to live with circumstances beyond your control (such as you can't find anyone desirable to have sex with you), to honor religious or philosophical convictions, to deal with a strong fear, or as a temporary break from an otherwise active life. Since sex is fueled by a strong biological drive, abstinence is not always easy. Thoughtful advice and practical information can help a lot.

An aphrodisiac is a substance, such as a food, drug or fragrance, that stimulates sexual desire. As long as there have been people, people have been looking for aphrodisiacs and there have been precious few. However, under certain circumstances the right accessories can change a possible situation into a real experience. (Remember in physics class, when a teacher used to go on and on about the difference between potential and kinetic energy? Now is your chance to put all that theory into action.) Turn to the Net and there's a good chance that you can find the information you need. And if you can't, you can always try my favorite trick, putting a copy of Harley Hahn's Student Guide to Unix under the pillow.

First Times

Do you remember the first time you had sex? Would it make a good story? Well, people on the Net love to share and some of them have written about their first time. There are good stories and bad stories, and they do tend to be a bit explicit. Aren't you curious? What are you waiting for?

Human Sexuality

Sexuality means a lot more than sex. Sexuality affects how we act, how we dress, how we form relationships, how we relate to our society as a whole, and how we think about ourselves. The study of human sexuality is a broad one and in particular, it tends to blur when we discuss gender and its importance.

Purity Tests

Purity tests have long been a staple of Usenet humor groups. These tests consist of many sexually oriented questions designed to help you find out just how "pure" you are.

Safe Sex

"Safe sex" refers to being able to carry out sexual activities in a way that is pleasurable, without exposing yourself to the risk of disease or unwanted pregnancy. Strictly speaking, there is no way to guarantee that any sexual activity will be 100 percent risk-free. For this reason, you will sometimes see the expression "safer sex", which is considered to be the more politically correct term by those people who care about such things. The basic idea of safe sex is to acquire good habits before you get too far into your sexual career. Learn the dos and don'ts, the ins and outs, and all the in-betweens of safe sexual practices. And if you still want to take risks, you can always jump out of an airplane.

Sensual Massage

Massage is a romantic and sensual way to relax. This guide will help you understand how to select sensual oils, create just the right atmosphere, and know what to do and how to do it with your partner. (Once you get going, though, you're on your own.)

Sex Glossary

Don't be one of those people who gets his refractory period mixed up with his resolution phase. If you wanna be a sex expert -- or even a knowledgeable amateur -- you need to be able to walk the walk and talk the talk. And that means you'll need to understand a whole bunch of seventy-five cent words. Here's the list. Go to it.

Sex Laws

Have you noticed that almost everybody gets weird when you start talking seriously about sex in public? Sex is such a powerful force in our lives that people who cannot relate to it effectively are bound to repress the energy and have it pop up in strange ways. No doubt this has a lot to do with why there are so many strange laws about sex. Some of them are funny, some of them are terrible (such as the sex laws followed by certain religions), and all of them make for interesting reading.

Sex Reference Guide

Here are guides that have information on just about every sex topic you can imagine (and even a few you can't imagine). The answers speak frankly and are easy to understand. If you have a sex-related question and you don't know anyone to ask (or you are too shy), these are great places to get the information you need.

Sex Talk and General Discussion

What's the weirdest place you have ever had sex? Care to share? Even if you don't, there are hoards of people who do. Not only will they tell you about the weirdest place, but also about the weirdest accident they've ever had during sex, how many times they've had sex, and what was going on around them before, during and after. Be informed as you are entertained. Read about birth control, STDs (sexually transmitted diseases), virginity (or lack of), and other topics of a sexual nature.

Sex Tips

If you are going to do it, you might as well do it well. The heading of sex covers a lot of activities and a lot of variations and -- aside from people who write Internet books -- just about everyone could use a few tips now and again. Who are you going to ask when you want some hints about how to put on a condom with your mouth? Your mother? Never mind, the Net is always there, and it won't ask embarrassing questions.

Sex Trivia

Sex can mean so many different things, depending on your point of view, situation in life, and personal inclinations. However, one thing sex is not is trivial. Thus, even sexual trivia has a compelling attraction. Do you know, for example, how big are the largest breasts ever measured? What was the largest number of orgasms ever experienced in one hour by a woman? By a man? How long was the longest female orgasm measured by Masters and Johnson? And was it true that Mae West (1892-1980) once made love with the same partner for 15 consecutive hours? All these fascinating bits of sexual trivia -- and much more -- can soon be yours. (By the way, the answers to these questions are: 44 pounds (20 kg) each [look at the picture], 134, 16, 43 seconds, and yes, according to her autobiography.)

Tantra and the Kama Sutra

The Kama Sutra is perhaps the most well-known erotic self-help book. See what the ancient commentators have to teach you about mankind's oldest pastime. These teachings describe a wide variety of sex positions and techniques, including the Jewel Case, Love's Noose and the Clinging Creeper.
