What should lovers know about Past Relationships?

Now that you have finally met someone special, what should you tell him or her about your past? What should the other person tell you?

At the beginning of a new romance, it is tempting to obsess about previous relationships, especially if you are still venting your spleen over past transgressions. Still, the bare minimum often suffices. After all, the idea is to build new memories with a new person.

Do tell your lover whether or not he or she is your first lover. (However, there is no need to disclose how many lovers you have had.)

You also need to tell your lover whether or not you have been married. If so, you should explain why the marriage ended.

If you really want to understand your lover's past, visit his or her family. A great deal will be revealed when you meet the people who raised your sweetie.
